Smart Education is working in partnership with a supportive and well-resourced alternative SEN provision in Hartlepool, and we're recruiting for a resilient, dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their exceptional team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work closely with students aged 11–16 who face a range of social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, including SEMH, ADHD, MLD, and BESD (Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties). You won’t just be supporting learning—you’ll be helping young people gain the skills, confidence, and emotional resilience they need to move forward in life. What You'll Be Doing: Delivering one-to-one and group support in the classroom, focusing on both academic and emotional development Implementing behaviour and learning strategies under the guidance of teaching staff and SENCOs Creating a safe, structured, and nurturing space where students feel heard and supported Encouraging students to build independence, social skills, and a positive attitude towards learning What We’re Looking For: A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, Strong behaviour management skills, especially when working with students presenting challenging behaviour A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification A valid Enhanced DBS (Child or Child & Adult Workforce) on the update service—or willingness to obtain one
