Design Manager. As a result of growing demands for our client’s award-winning range of Generators, BESS & Power Distribution systems, they are seeking a Design Manager to join their team. The role will suit an individual looking for an opportunity to develop their career within a fast-paced organisation at the cutting edge of off highway vehicle, Power Generation design and development.
Design Manager – Role:
You will play a key role in designing & delivering the next generation power products using the latest Diesel, Hydrogen, Battery Electric & Power Distribution technologies.
* Manage, lead, and provide clear direction to your team for all mechanical NPIP & CPS activities.
* Guide the design team through concept to production release phases utilising 1D and CAE tools to pragmatically inform the design process.
* Support any technical issues faced by the team throughout the product development process.
* Responsible for effective drawing release both from technical sign off and project delivery perspective.
* Review, critique and advise on system designs, DFMEA’s, DVP’s. Conduct technical reviews with key stakeholders & support Engineering Sign off.
* Support project gate deliverables as part of the New Product Introduction Process.
* Support / generate development plans for your team, undertake performance appraisals, and provide guidance and mentorship to promote high performance within your team.
* Working closely with our Electrical and Test & Development teams to ensure a smooth integration in the products
* Managing the cost of components and assemblies.
* To work and develop relationships with Project, Quality, Manufacturing & Purchasing teams to deliver NPI requirements and help resolve production / supply chain challenges.
Design Manager – Requirements:
* You have a positive can-do attitude and ability to drive projects forward.
* You have relevant experience and can work independently, applying engineering first principles to develop robust solutions.
* You hold a qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, with strong attention to detail and a data-driven mindset.
* You're confident working under pressure, managing deadlines, and planning work effectively.
* You can communicate clearly and concisely across all levels.
* Be able to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
* Demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels.
* You have experience working with a 3D CAD package (Siemens NX preferred).
* Have working knowledge / experience of one or more of the below areas:
* Engine installations, Cooling Systems, Air management, Fabrications, Water Ingress / sealing systems and Tooled steel & non steel manufacturing methods.
