Shaping futures in Torbay
At Sherwell Valley Primary School, we believe in the potential of all children and go above and beyond to provide them with the support they need to thrive. Sherwell Valley is a great place to work, with wide opportunities and excellent support.
Respect – You will consistently demonstrate respectful interactions with all children, regardless of their individual needs or differences. Opportunities should be created for children to feel valued and their perspectives considered. A culture of kindness and acceptance should be fostered and learning styles celebrated.
Resilience – You will support children to develop coping mechanisms when facing challenges in both learning and social interactions along with encouraging a growth mindset. Children will be given the opportunity to feel secure, take risks and ask for help.
Aspiration – You will focus on what students can do and celebrate their achievements, no matter how small, to build confidence and motivation. You will work with others to set achievable goals and strive for progress helping children understand how their current learning and the skills they are developing can contribute to their future success and aspirations.
Collaboration – You will design and lead activities allowing children to work towards a common goal promoting teamwork and shared understanding. You will work closely with the class teachers, SENDCo, parents/carers and other support staff to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach to supporting the child's needs.
Responsibility – You will guide children to complete learning goals, reflect on progress and foster a sense of responsibility for their own progress. It will be important to reinforce expectations for behaviour and support children in understanding the impact of actions.
