At the University of Bradford, our focus is on creating the conditions for social, cultural, and economic impact. We are committed to social inclusion. Our work to expand opportunity and enable students to reach their potential has led us topping the Social Mobility Index of English universities for the last four years. Our University Strategy sets out our ambitions for 2025 onwards, which we will achieve by using our proud heritage as a springboard and remaining steadfast in our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding, protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk through robust safer recruitment practices.
Directorate & Role Overview
We are seeking a pro‑active, self‑motivated and enthusiastic person for the role of Outreach and Recruitment Officer (North West). The successful candidate will work with Pre‑16, Post‑16 and adult learners in key schools and colleges across Greater Manchester and Lancashire to raise aspirations and awareness of higher education, support students through the application process, promote the University of Bradford and enable the University to achieve its recruitment targets.
What You Will Be Doing
* Effectively account manage a designated group of schools and colleges across Greater Manchester and Lancashire, pro‑actively meeting with staff at these institutions to discuss their requirements and informing them of the University’s offer.
* Lead seminars and workshops on a range of higher education topics, liaising with academic colleagues to provide interactive activities, attending local, regional and national recruitment events and providing one‑to‑one guidance.
* The role is extremely varied and requires working on a flexible basis, including occasional evenings and weekends as required. Regular travel to locations across Greater Manchester and Lancashire, including overnight stays, will be required.
* Meet mutually agreed recruitment targets.
* Work closely with colleagues in marketing to develop content for recruitment presentations, printed and online marketing material for prospective students and key influencers including parents, carers, teachers and advisors.
* The University operates a hybrid working model, but there is an expectation that individuals are available to work on campus to meet service demand. As a new colleague it would be expected that, at least for the first few months, the majority of working days will be on campus. Longer‑term, days on campus will be worked around school, college visits and other recruitment events.
Qualifications & Experience
* A good standard of education including GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
* Experience working with under‑represented groups in higher education.
* Customer service experience face‑to‑face, via telephone and email in a professional manner.
Celebrating Diversity
In the Directorate of Outreach, Recruitment and Marketing, there is a lower representation of males and BAME staff in Outreach and Recruitment roles, and therefore we welcome applications from individuals who represent these categories.
At the University of Bradford we accept people for who they are regardless of age, disability, gender identity, sex, marital status, ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation or socio‑economic background and whether you’re pregnant or on maternity leave.
In line with the University’s commitment to equality charters including Athena Swan, Race Equality Charter, Disability Confident and Stonewall Diversity Champions Programme, we welcome applications from people identifying with these characteristics. The University has a number of staff networks which provide peer support and safe spaces for staff who hold these and other identities.
