About the Role

Where every small step forward is a big moment worth celebrating

At Red Moor School, we don’t just support pupils — we change lives. We meet children exactly where they are, walk beside them through the tough moments, and celebrate every success, no matter how small. Our pupils deserve adults who see their potential, not their past, and who show up each day ready to help them grow.

If you’re someone who understands that relationships are the foundation of progress, who stays steady when things get wobbly, who sees the child behind the behaviour, and who treats each new day as a fresh start, then you might be exactly who we’re looking for.

You will:

1. Work closely with teachers and colleagues to create calm, structured, meaningful learning experiences
2. Support pupils individually and in small groups across a range of subjects and activities
3. Help implement personalised timetables, behaviour plans and therapeutic approaches
4. Build strong, trusting relationships that support pupils’ social and emotional development
5. Prepare resources and activities that bring learning to life
6. Join pupils on educational visits, off-site activities and enrichment experiences
7. Keep clear, accurate records that contribute to the wider picture of each child
8. Support with pupil transport for bespoke provisions or planned off-site activities

No two days look the same — because our pupils need different things at different times. That’s exactly what makes the role so meaningful

What you will bring

9. Have GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths
10. Bring a calm, consistent and caring approach — especially in challenging moments
11. Enjoy working with young people and believe education should flex around their needs
12. Can build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
13. Work well as part of a supportive team but are confident using your initiative
14. Believe in potential, not labels — and don’t give up when things get tough

If you want to truly understand young people rather than simply manage them, Red Moor School is a place where you can make a real difference.

About Us

Red Moor is a nurturing, specialist school for pupils aged 5–18 with SEMH needs and barriers to learning. Many of our young people arrive having found school overwhelming or unsuccessful in the past — our job is to show them a different experience.

We believe: “The curriculum should be the servant of the child.” – Sir Barry Carpenter (2024)
This philosophy shapes our relationships, our environment, and every aspect of school life — including the way we care for our buildings and grounds.

Red Moor is part of Acorn Education, within Outcomes First Group, giving you both the closeness of a supportive school team and the opportunities of a national organisation.

Acorn Education offers rewarding careers and meaningful challenges while making a real difference in young people’s lives. As a leading UK provider of specialist education for children and young people with special educational needs, and part of Outcomes First Group, we deliver innovative, evidence-based approaches that support measurable progress and lasting impact.

We are really proud to say that in 2025 Outcomes First Group were officially certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the sixth year running.

Why Join Us?

We place pupils and vulnerable young adults at the heart of everything we do, so every day brings the satisfaction of making a real difference. We are committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and young people. All applicants will be subject to social media checks and successful applicants to a fully enhanced DBS.

15. Life Assurance
16. Pension scheme with options to increase contributions
17. “Your Wellbeing Matters” – mental health support and physical health checks
18. Flexible Benefits Platform (Vista), including:
19. Health, wellbeing and insurance benefits
20. Hundreds of UK and international discounts
21. Cycle to Work Scheme & Electric Car Purchase Scheme
22. Critical illness cover
23. Family Growth Support, including enhanced maternity/paternity leave and paid fertility treatment support

We reserve the right to close the vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.

Outcomes First Group is committed to carrying out a fair, thorough and efficient recruitment process in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education. Whilst we aim to keep applicants informed throughout, Outcomes First Group does not accept liability for any loss of earnings or other associated costs incurred by applicants as a result of delays or changes in the compliance process.
