Turning Tides is a charity that supports people experiencing homelessness in West Sussex. While our central office is in Worthing, our work spans the county – from East Grinstead to Littlehampton and across areas in between. With over 20 accommodation projects, community hubs and outreach teams, we offer local single adults tailored support to move towards a more stable future. We strongly believe in addressing the root causes for homelessness, so our specialist teams support in areas such as mental health, substance misuse, tenancy sustainment, IT skills, employment guidance and much more. Are you passionate about making a difference for people experiencing homelessness and complex needs? We’re looking for a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker, supporting individuals with multiple and compound needs (MCN) to access mental health and wellbeing services. Job Purpose To deliver structured 1:1 psychoeducational and wellbeing support for clients experiencing homelessness and multiple and compound needs (MCN), as part of the newly funded Pathfinder provision. To act as a link worker between our service and local Pathfinder partners, strengthening communication, continuity and access to community-based mental health and wellbeing support. To work alongside existing mental health workers in Worthing and Horsham/Mid-Sussex, ensuring joined-up, trauma-informed support for people facing significant barriers to support. To co-develop and facilitate wellbeing, recovery and psychoeducational groups as part of the wider Wellbeing Team. To embed trauma-informed practice, co-production and peer involvement into all aspects of service delivery, strengthening client resilience, emotional wellbeing and engagement with mental health support. Knowledge and Experience Experience of supporting people facing homelessness, mental health challenges, trauma or multiple and compound needs. Experience delivering or contributing to psychoeducational, recovery-focused or wellbeing interventions (1:1 or groups). Knowledge of trauma-informed, person-centred and strengths-based practice. Understanding of barriers homeless individuals face when accessing mainstream mental health services. Experience working collaboratively with statutory partners, VCSE organisations or multi-agency teams. Experience with safeguarding, risk assessment and safety planning. Skills And Abilities Ability to build trusting, compassionate and boundaried relationships with individuals experiencing trauma and emotional distress. Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain psychological concepts accessibly. Ability to work autonomously, prioritise workload and manage competing demands. Strong reflective practice skills and commitment to continuous learning. Ability to travel independently across Horsham, Worthing and wider West Sussex.
