Mental Health Youth Support Worker – Gateshead

Protocol Education is working with a nurturing Primary SEN school in Gateshead, supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and a range of additional learning needs. Many pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and the school is committed to helping every child build confidence, develop key life skills, and engage positively with learning.
You’ll be joining a dedicated, supportive team who work collaboratively to create a calm, structured environment where pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to succeed.
Your role as a Mental Health Youth Support Worker
* Support pupils with SEMH and additional needs in lessons and throughout the school day
* Help children regulate emotions, build resilience, and develop positive coping strategies
* Create a safe, nurturing environment where pupils feel valued and supported
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide consistent support
* Encourage engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
