Environmental Health Officer - Public Sector, Bedford
This role is with MCS Group, working for a large public sector employer in County Antrim, offering a 4-day working week, competitive salary, and potential for a longer contract. Location: Ballymena. Contract length: 9 months with likelihood of extension. Salary: £38.5k (Pro-rata).
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct inspections, investigations, assessments, and activities across environmental health functions such as public health, food safety, and housing.
2. Enforce legislation by serving statutory notices and preparing legal proceedings.
3. Act as an expert witness and provide advice and reports for legal, planning, and public health matters.
4. Collaborate with external agencies, businesses, and working groups to support environmental health goals.
5. Contribute to planning reviews, public consultations, health campaigns, and reactive monitoring, including out-of-hours response.
6. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, support training, and perform administrative duties.
Candidate Profile:
* Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent experience.
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
* Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role within the public sector.
* Knowledge of current Environmental Health legislation.
* Stakeholder engagement skills.
* Valid driver’s license and access to transport.
