About this opportunity
We are seeking a Finance Officer to join our insurance team.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the Insurance Manager and Principal Finance Officer - Insurance in contributing to the management of the service through the professional management of the Council's insurance contracts, uninsured reserves and the effective management, administration and control of claims lodged against the Council. The role will be specifically focussed on the financial aspects of the service including processing invoices, raising journals, reporting on financial performance as well as supporting the management of insurance claims processing.
With an annual budget for the insurance team of c £2m and approximately 800 insurance claims each year, this role will ideally suit a customer focused and self-disciplined individual looking to broaden their knowledge and expertise into the insurance sector.

We are looking for someone who has:
* Experience of raising/processing invoices and journals
* Experience of using Microsoft Office packages and web-based applications
* Capacity to broaden their insurance knowledge and expertise
The individual will have:
* Good communications and written skills
* Practical knowledge and application of providing financial services including budget monitoring and year end accounting practices
* Ability to work as part of a team and also work on their own on assigned tasks
