The Rotherham Children's Public Health Nursing Service andSheffield Hallam University welcome applicants for the Specialist CommunityPublic Health Nursing Course (Health Visiting route) commencing September 2026subject to funding. This is a fixed term contract for 52 weeks.
The Rotherham Children's Public Health Nursing Servicecurrently works collaboratively to deliver The Healthy Child Programme toChildren Young people and families across Rotherham.
We are looking to appoint three enthusiastic and well-motivatedapplicants for the 52 week course.
You will study at Sheffield Hallam University.
In practice you will be supported by experienced PracticeSupervisors and Practice Assessors.
You will be ambitious to deliver key public health messagesand proactive universal services to a range of children, young people and theirfamilies living in Rotherham covering the Healthy Child Programme and corecontacts. You will also have some understanding of safeguarding and workingwith vulnerable individuals, families and communities.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of communityworking and although community experience is desirable it is not essential.
There are x3 Health Visitor students positions subject tofunding to be paid at mid point band 5 only.
Main duties of the job
To work with the Practice Supervisor in order to developexpert skills and knowledge around Clinical Practice, Community Engagement ,Clinical Practice Development, and Leadership in order to:
* Provide a consistent, effective, accessible andappropriate 0-19 Service for children, young people and their families
* Work in partnership with agencies and families
* Signpost to partner agencies where assessed as required
* Be responsible for the delivery of public health,universal and targeted interventions across the 0-19 years age range.
* Work proactively using a partnership approach to promotehealth and contribute to tackling health inequalities within the level ofcompetencies required for the post.
* Work with children, young people and families within thehome environment, school or other identified community settings.
This is a development post, building upon existingknowledge, skills and competencies to achieve a higher level of practice resultingin an academic qualification with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Knowledge
* Demonstrates an awareness of 0- 19 Universal Services, the Public Health Agenda and Primary Care
* Demonstrates an understanding of research and audit processes
* Understanding of National and Local drivers and directions that relate to measuring and improving the quality and safety of patient care
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* Willingness to undertake further training
* Evidence of continuous professional development
Experience
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of working with children.
* Experience of working in a community setting
