The Opportunity
Our client, a leading consultancy specialising in Data & Analytics, is looking for a Data Protection Consultant to join their growing team in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for a data-focused professional who’s passionate about helping organisations protect and govern their most valuable asset — their data.
You’ll be responsible for shaping and implementing data protection strategies that align with broader governance frameworks, ensuring clients meet compliance obligations while embedding ethical and secure data practices into their operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with clients to design and implement practical data protection strategies across the enterprise.
* Review and improve existing data control processes, tools, and governance models to ensure operational efficiency.
* Support the creation and rollout of policies, procedures, and standards around data privacy, retention, and security.
* Lead workshops and stakeholder interviews to assess data risk exposure and link findings to governance capabilities.
* Develop and present roadmaps and frameworks to embed scalable and sustainable data protection practices.
About You
* Demonstrable experience working in data protection, including areas such as privacy, sharing, retention, or information security.
* Strong knowledge of data governance and data management principles.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business language.
* Self-motivated and capable of working independently within client-facing environments.
* Genuine interest in data ethics, regulatory compliance, and governance within regulated sectors (e.g., financial services, energy).
* At least 2 years in consulting or a data change/transformation role.
* Familiarity with industry data protection regulations and best practices.
* Experience delivering or supporting data governance or data quality initiatives.
* Ability to design methodologies, frameworks, or accelerators to enhance delivery efficiency.
* Contribution to business development or thought leadership activities.
