An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Development Assistant to join our team within Land and Assets.
The County Council owns and operates over 1,700 sites, comprising over 10,000 separate building units and over 8,500 hectares of land. The combined book value of these assets is circa £3 billion.
These assets are hugely diverse and include schools, day centres, libraries and museums, children’s homes, adult residential and nursing homes, waste recycling facilities, country parks, rural landholdings, and operational farms. The County Council also owns and occupies offices, workshops, depots, and storage accommodation. It leases other commercial property to businesses and rural holdings to farmers and has responsibility for a wide range of heritage assets including listed buildings and Scheduled Monuments.
The Role:
1. Provide support across a range of projects to the professional and managerial staff. This will include working with colleagues to coordinate and undertake vacant property management tasks for property assets pending disposal and requires liaising with internal and external contractors and consultants. Sometimes this requires making site visits.
2. You will be undertaking a variety of administrative responsibilities such as time code management, assisting with consultant and contractor procurement processes, processing of orders and invoices, occasional meeting support (MS Teams or in-person meetings).
3. Role will include supporting project managers in the marketing of sites, preparation of marketing materials (sales particulars and similar documents), placing press advertisements.
Management of excel financial and project spreadsheets for the team, document filing and storage, including on occasion interrogating deeds and other documents for information.
What you’ll do:
The Development Assistant will provide project and administrative support across the Development Planning and Surveying teams which sit within the Land and Assets function of the People and Organisation directorate.
The Development Planning and Surveying teams lead on the identification, promotion and disposal of surplus County Council land and assets for alternative uses, enabling housing, employment and other requirements across Hampshire and securing capital receipts for reinvestment in County Council services. The teams lead the County Council’s Strategic Land programme which includes strategic development sites across the county.
What we’re looking for:
A well organised individual who can manage multiple tasks at once, with attention to detail and possessing competent I.T. skills (competent with Office 365 is essential). Previous experience in a comparable administrative and/or support role would be an advantage.
You must be a collaborative individual who works with integrity, respect and wants to help make a difference in the public sector.
