Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking individuals with enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment to join our pharmacy division as Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians.
Rotations
Rotations will take place at Manchester Royal Infirmary, Wythenshawe Hospital, Trafford General Hospital and North Manchester General Hospital. Base site preference will be discussed at interview but is not guaranteed.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
* Engage in medicines management duties at ward level, such as medicines reconciliation, assessing patients’ own medications and ordering medications.
* Provide a high‑quality dispensing service for all patients within the Trust.
* Attend virtual college on day release to achieve the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practices for Pharmacy Technicians. This requires study both in work and in personal time, with an expectation of at least 10 hours per week.
* Receive full support from an Educational Supervisor and qualified pharmacy assessors to complete the qualification.
Qualifications and Eligibility
* Minimum of 4 GCSEs grades A‑C (4‑9), including Maths, English Language and two science subjects (preferably Chemistry and Biology). Dual or combined grades are accepted.
* If you do not possess a Science GCSE but have completed a Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services and have at least two years of pharmacy experience, you are still eligible to apply. Successful candidates will undergo an additional science assessment to confirm eligibility.
* All GCSE results must be clearly documented on your application. If qualifications were obtained overseas, a NARIC certificate should be secured before the interview for review.
