Your new role

This is a brand new position within the UK&I QHSE team, created to provide strategic leadership across all sustainability topics. Reporting to the QHSE Director, you’ll be the go to sustainability expert for the region, working closely with EMEA HQ and cross functional UK&I teams.You’ll be hybrid working – typically working from home with 2–3 days a week across Basingstoke, West Bromwich or other UK&I sites.Your first few months will focus on ensuringpliance,pleting discovery work, and establishing a clear sustainability roadmap. From there, you will lead the long term strategy and embed sustainability intopany culture.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Develop and deliver a UK&I sustainability roadmap aligned with global KION objectives.
2. Ensure fullpliance with environmental legislation and ISO standards (including ISO 14001).
3. Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA), lifecycle assessments (LCA), and monitor CO₂, waste, energy and water metrics
4. Lead waste reduction, circular economy and recycling projects.
5. Align sustainability with health, safety and wellbeing practices.
6. Prepare ESG and sustainability reports, contributing to GRI, CDP and TCFD disclosures.
7. Promote internal sustainability awareness through training and workshops.
8. Support frontline sales and service teams with sustainability based customer discussions.
9. Represent the UK&I at EMEA level sustainability forums.
10. Identify new technologies that reduce environmental impact in manufacturing, logistics and fleet operations.
11. Research funding, grants and green initiative incentives.
12. Monitor evolving regulations and industry trends.



What you'll need to succeed

13. ISEP (IEMA) Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management (ideal)
14. A degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or similar
15. Proven experience in sustainability or environmental management within manufacturing, logistics or industrial operations
16. Knowledge of ISO 14001 / 45001 within a QHSE framework
17. Skilled in carbon footprinting, energy analysis, ESG reporting and sustainability metrics
18. Strongmunication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
19. Resilience, gravitas, and the ability to work strategically while staying hands on
20. Advanced IT skills (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office)
