Role Overview
The Mainframe Architect plays a critical leadership role, bridging diverse stakeholders across clients, governance teams, project executives, delivery teams, and external vendors. From project inception through completion, the Mainframe Architect ensures the delivery of tailored, on-time, and on-budget technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
* Serve as a subject matter expert at project initiation, collaborating with clients to gather requirements and define success.
* Design customized, client-aligned technical solutions, leading their implementation through to delivery.
* Guide teams throughout the delivery lifecycle, maintaining high standards of technical excellence.
* Navigate and overcome pre-existing limitations through creative, collaborative problem-solving.
* Influence, design, and deliver solutions that drive significant client impact.
* Engage in ongoing learning and certifications to maintain technical leadership in evolving cloud and mainframe environments.
Required Skills and Experience
* 15+ years of experience with mainframe database technologies such as IBM DB2, IBM IMS Database, Cincom Supra, Software AG Adabas, or Broadcom Datacom.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, supported by data analysis expertise.
* Excellent communication and presentation abilities for both technical and non-technical audiences.
* In-depth knowledge of database performance tuning, capacity management, high availability options, and modernization strategies.
* Proficient with core mainframe subsystems and database query components including z/OS, JCL, JES, RACF/ACF2, CICS, COBOL, PL/1, SQL, and Natural.
Preferred Skills and Experience
* Familiarity with IT concepts, practices, and procedures at the enterprise level.
* Knowledge of design techniques for technical plans, blueprints, and models.
* Logical reasoning skills for evaluating alternative solutions and approaches.
* Advanced certifications in key mainframe or cloud technologies.
* Experience modernizing database systems and integrating them into hybrid cloud environments.
* Exposure to Agile methodologies such as Kanban, SAFe, or Scrum.
* Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
