A specialist mental health service in the Romford area is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join its multidisciplinary team on a full‑time basis.
Set within a peaceful countryside environment with extensive outdoor grounds, this established healthcare facility provides a therapeutic setting that supports recovery, wellbeing, and rehabilitation for individuals receiving specialist mental health care.
The Role
As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting service users to achieve greater independence, improve daily functioning, and work towards their personal recovery goals. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, and deliver person‑centred interventions that promote wellbeing and enhance quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to identify physical, cognitive, emotional, and environmental factors affecting daily living.
- Develop and implement individualised, evidence‑based treatment plans focused on improving functional independence.
- Support service users in achieving goals related to self‑care, education, employment, leisure, and community engagement.
- Recommend and facilitate the use of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications where appropriate.
- Deliver therapeutic interventions through both one‑to‑one and group‑based sessions.
- Utilise a range of occupational therapy approaches, including therapeutic activities, sensory‑based interventions, and coping skills development.
- Monitor, evaluate, and document client progress, adapting treatment plans as required.
- Work closely with nursing staff, psychologists, psychiatrists, support workers, and external agencies to ensure coordinated care.
- Liaise with families, carers, and relevant stakeholders to support positive outcomes for service users.
- Advocate for service users and promote best practice within healthcare and community settings.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Previous experience within mental health, rehabilitation, or a related healthcare setting is desirable.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
