Smarten AI a start-up waste management company is developing an intelligent, modular smart waste tracking system designed to transform public recycling habits, improve urban material recovery, and build a real-time circular economy ecosystem. By combining geotagged bin sensors, AI-driven waste classification, user-friendly QR code interactions, and a blockchain-backed rewards system, the smart bin directly incentivizes correct recycling behaviour and enables traceable material flows at scale. The system focuses on low-cost, easy-to-deploy sensor casings that wrap around existing public bins, allowing users to scan a unique QR code linked to their digital wallet and dispose of waste correctly. Smarten AI aims to reduce collection costs, optimize routes, and engage the community through gamified public engagement and a stable coin-ready reward ecosystem.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Birmingham for an Artificial Intelligence Designer Co-Founder. The Artificial Intelligence Designer Co-Founder will be responsible for leading the design and development of AI-driven waste classification systems, creating intuitive user experiences for QR code interaction, and integrating blockchain-backed rewards systems. The role will involve close collaboration with urban councils, waste managers, and recycling companies to implement and optimize the smart bin system. Additionally, the Co-Founder will contribute to pilot studies, engage in community challenges, and assist in regulatory alignment with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Qualifications
