Overview
As a Staff Nurse, the post holder plays a vital role in delivering high-quality mental health care through clinical expertise, leadership, and professional integrity. They will participate in clinical and management supervision, attend developmental training, and occasionally take charge of the ward. Adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct is essential at all times. Under the guidance of the Ward Manager and Nurse Team Leader, the Staff Nurse will foster effective communication and teamwork, report clinical and professional concerns, and assist in managing complaints.
Responsibilities
* Clinically, assess referred cases, plan and evaluate care for allocated patients, and contribute to ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
* Ensure safe and effective nursing procedures, including medication management, and uphold patients' rights under the Mental Health Act.
* Support research, teach students and junior staff, supervise clinical placements, and assist with induction training.
* Implement safety policies and ensure the secure custody of patients in line with their leave status, maintaining vigilance across the unit, grounds, and community.
* Participate in clinical and management supervision and developmental training; occasionally take charge of the ward.
* Report clinical and professional concerns and assist in managing complaints.
Requirements
* Qualified Mental Health Nurse (experienced or newly qualified) with the ability to develop clinical skills and knowledge.
* Commitment to compassionate, psychologically minded care and collaboration with the people we support.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
* Adherence to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant legal frameworks.
