Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced CNC / Machinist to join our team in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire. The role will provide the chance to use your skills and work in a challenging and varied environment. The purpose of the role is to ensure that the customer receives a high-quality product in line with process and product specification. The CNC/Machinist will support all stages of the manufacturing process, focusing on running and setting of machinery including CNC 5 axis, and the fitting and assembly of composite components for a range of customers in line with company documentation including specifications and drawings.
Responsibilities
* Using a range of air tools, machines and drill components using trim and drill jigs or by measuring from technical drawings
* Assembly of composite components using standard fasteners such as riveting and anchor nuts. Cleaning and finishing of products using polishers
* Preparing bonding surfaces to be clean and contamination-free. Bonding using various adhesives and putting components into ovens for curing.
* Operate CNC machines to produce products to the correct specification.
* Set up the CNC machine in accordance with procedures
* Program the CNC in accordance with procedures
* Undertake a variety of machine shop activities and processes dependant on business requirements, including 3D printing
* Assist with new methodologies and processes, obtaining approval from Team Lead / Manager or Engineering where needed
* Train colleagues in attainment of skills via on-the-job training, if necessary
* Complete job cards and other required documentation accurately and timely and in line with process
* Communicate effectively with other departments to share issues and contribute to smooth production
* Support and liaise with other departments to resolve machine shop issues and suggest improvements
* Contribute to Continuous Improvement activities at Advanced Composites
* Support management and regulatory bodies in obtaining and maintaining accreditation and compliance
Qualifications
* Manufacturing experience
* CNC operation
* Undertaking general machine shop activities
* Experience with composites
* Hand tool usage
* Ability to work to instructions
Education
* Good standard of education
* Relevant qualification at minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent
Experience
* Experience in a process-driven production environment
* Experience in manufacturing environment, ideally composites
* Good communication skills, written and verbal
* Experience working in a team
