We are excited to support Liverpool City Region in finding the UK's first Chief AI Officer in Regional Government!
This role is part of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authorities' plan to harness AI for good. It is a key position leading the region's AI future.
This is a historic moment for Liverpool City Region, as AI advances create new opportunities and responsibilities for public sector leadership. The creation of this Chief AI Officer role demonstrates the region's ambition to lead in ethical, inclusive, and innovative AI applications.
As the first Chief AI Officer in UK regional government, you will have the opportunity to shape the region’s AI strategy and set a model for other regions. This initiative aligns with the vision of Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram to position Liverpool City Region at the forefront of ethical AI in public services.
With strong political support, an emerging innovation ecosystem, and a public mandate for ethical technology, this is an exciting opportunity to define AI leadership in the public sector.
The Role
* Lead the City Region’s AI strategy and integrate it into digital transformation goals.
* Advocate for ethical AI practices, data privacy, and inclusive technology.
* Develop strategic partnerships regionally, nationally, and internationally.
* Represent Liverpool City Region in AI forums and roundtables.
* Guide teams and collaborate with the Liverpool City Region AI Task Force.
* Support workforce development and skills programs.
* Ensure initiatives align with regional values and priorities.
Your Experience
* Strategic vision combined with deep technical expertise.
* Ability to influence change across systems and connect with people.
* Proven leadership in AI transformation at a senior level.
* Strong background in AI, Data Science, or related fields.
* Experience working within the public sector.
