At Turning Point, we support individuals with Learning Disabilities across England. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing residents' daily living skills, while also gaining valuable experience and training to advance your career.
Important: You must be a driver for this role.
Where Will You Be Working?
Our services in Thornton provide 24-hour care for adults with Learning Disabilities and additional health issues. We focus on creating positive family relationships and a supportive environment, tailoring our services to promote independence through various activities, budgeting, and cooking.
You will be part of a dedicated team, covering various shift patterns, including occasional night shifts.
Note: This role involves supporting individuals with complex learning disabilities and includes high levels of personal care.
Training and Development
We are committed to your growth! We offer training to enhance your skills not only in the care sector but in other areas as well:
* Level 2 and 3 Lead Adult Care Worker
* Level 3 Operational Team Leader
Training begins after a 6-month probation period, and you will have a dedicated coach to guide you through your program.
Shift Patterns
This is a 24-hour service, so flexibility is key. Your shifts may vary, including:
* 7:00/8:00 am to 2:30/3:30 pm
* 12:00 pm to 7:30 pm
* Occasional waking nights and weekends
Your Role and Responsibilities
What Will You Be Doing?
This hands-on role ensures that no two days are alike. Your responsibilities will include:
* Promoting the independence of the individuals we support
* Assisting with daily activities such as cleaning, cooking, and outings
* Organizing activities both at home and in the community
* Helping residents develop life skills and personal interests
* Ensuring the safety and health of residents
* Providing personal care as needed
* Manual handling support
* Assisting with medication management
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service monitoring

What Skills and Qualities Do You Need?
While knowledge of learning disabilities is a plus, it’s not essential. What truly matters is that you are:
* Passionate, caring, and enthusiastic
* Flexible, patient, and non-judgmental
* A great team player with plenty of energy
* Skilled in communication
* Able to handle the physical aspects of the role, including manual handling
* Experienced in helping individuals manage anxiety
