Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant hospitality environment, supporting the head chef and senior sous chef in maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. The successful applicant will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, managing food production, and ensuring smooth daily operations within a busy restaurant setting.

Duties

* Assist the head chef and senior sous in planning and preparing menus that meet quality standards and customer expectations.
* Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations.
* Oversee food preparation processes, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
* Lead by example in cooking techniques, food safety practices, and maintaining cleanliness within the kitchen environment.
* Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and high levels of customer satisfaction.
* Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and manage stock rotation to minimise waste.
* Train new team members on food preparation standards, safety procedures, and service protocols.
* Maintain a positive working environment that promotes teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

* Proven experience within a professional kitchen or hospitality setting.
* Culinary experience with a strong background in food production and preparation.
* Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
* Solid understanding of food safety standards and regulations.
* Experience working in a busy restaurant environment with excellent organisational skills.
* Knowledge of various cooking techniques and menu development.
* Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and front-of-house staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From £15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
