Role overview: We’re looking for a motivated Assistant Shop Manager to support our trading team. You’ll act as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK, helping to maximize income through people, resources, and stock.
Key responsibilities:
* Support the shop manager in leading and engaging a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
* Assist in the commercial operations of the store, including display, merchandising, stock management, and maintaining standards.
* Lead by example, providing excellent customer and supporter service.
* Work with the shop manager to achieve targets for donated stock, cash, gift aid, and sales metrics.
* Build relationships with the local community and colleagues.
* Support the organization of fundraising events to meet targets.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, and HR policies.
* Deputize for the shop manager when needed.
* Perform manual handling and physical activities as part of daily duties.
Candidate requirements:
* Knowledge of excellent customer service principles.
* Experience working in a lively environment.
* Adaptability and ability to work independently.
* Commercial awareness.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* Flexibility to work on a rota basis, respecting work-life balance.
