Hardware Test Engineer Contract (Inside IR35) Location: Brentwood, CM14 4DZ 6 Month Contract | Hybrid (4 Days Onsite) Client: CEI Job Overview: We are recruiting a Hardware Test Engineer to support CEIs hardware design, development, and testing activities. This role involves hands-on validation, debugging, RF testing, and collaboration across engineering teams. Ideal for someone with strong lab skills and experience in consumer-electronics hardware. Key Responsibilities Perform hardware test, verification, and validation on embedded and electronic systems. Review and interpret schematics, PCB layouts, and engineering documentation. Carry out RF testing, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth performance checks. Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and multimeters for troubleshooting. Document test results clearly and maintain accurate technical records. Work with software, project management, and cross-functional engineering teams. Support onsite and offsite test activities as needed. Required Skills & Experience: Strong background in hardware testing, debugging, and validation. Ability to read and understand schematics and PCB layout designs. Experience with communication interfaces such as DDR, SPI, IC, etc. Hands-on experience with test equipment: Oscilloscopes Logic analysers Multimeters RF knowledge, especially Wi-Fi and Bluetooth testing. Experience with engineering tools like Altium, LTSpice, and terminal/serial communication tools. Excellent problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate with engineering teams. Desirable Skills: Experience with Python or scripting for hardware test automation. Prior exposure to consumer electronics, IoT, or TV/set-top-box hardware. Familiarity with AI-based test automation or data analysis tools.
