We have an exciting opportunity to join the team as Head of Fixed Connectivity to lead the delivery and evolution of some of the most complex, secure, and critical digital services within the UK. You will be responsible for a portfolio supporting secure communications for 90,000 users across the MOD’s global footprint – including internet gateways, cloud access, email services, and remote connectivity. This includes planning and overseeing the rollout of next-generation voice and data networks such as 5G, underpinned by a budget responsibility of £340 million and a workforce of around 200 specialists.
This is a key leadership role within the Defence Digital Senior Leadership Team, demanding a blend of commercial acumen, technical expertise, and transformational leadership.
Job Description
You will:
* Drive delivery of complex connectivity services and ensure business-critical continuity.
* Lead a multidisciplinary team of civil servants, military personnel, and contractors.
* Manage large-scale technology programmes and ensure alignment with Defence Digital strategies.
* Act as a senior technical service owner, guiding service design, performance, and security.
* Manage commercial relationships and large supplier contracts to deliver quality and value.
* Represent Defence Digital at senior forums and contribute to cross-government digital initiatives.
You Will

Person specification
* A strategic leader who is focused on outcomes; develops ambitious and bold visions/strategies and can prioritise and build capability in other team members.
* Understands and looks for the best commercial construct to deliver efficient and timely routes to market, and can manage and engage with commercial staff to achieve these outcomes.
* A creative problem solver who can anticipate, take ownership, prioritise and resolve problems and risks at the right time, while not being afraid to make decisions
* Extensive experience of leading connectivity programmes and services and/or implementation of new networks within complex environments.
* Experience of leading significant change whilst maintaining business as usual activities.
* A thorough technical understanding of networks, technologies and network security.
* A successful track record of leading large scale technology programmes migrations and service delivery.
