BAM FM is recruiting a caretaker to join the team at Robert Blake School in Bridgwater.
Working 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, school term time only (39 weeks per year).

Your mission
Under the instruction/guidance of the Site Manager, you will provide porterage, maintenance, waste management and security services on the school premises.
1. Lock/unlock school buildings and areas.
2. Key holding.
3. Setting/un-setting of security systems.
4. Monitor fire safety equipment and carry out and assist authority in carrying out fire drills.
5. Operate and respond to alarm systems where appropriate.
6. Undertake appropriate repairs e.g. minor redecorating and fixing.
7. Carry out various maintenance duties to ensure that the general upkeep and maintenance of the premises is satisfactory, as per specific schedule for the site.
8. Carry out minor decoration and improvement works.
9. Monitor the BMS system and report any issues.
10. Undertake regular security checks and identify security risks.
11. Carry out checks of heating plant and lighting systems.
12. Remove waste to central collection point (bin storage area).
13. Undertake emergency cleaning tasks during specified times.
14. Undertake cleaning duties such as graffiti removal and external site litter picking.
15. Coordinate deliveries to the site and distribution within.
16. Carry out evening let duties when required.
17. Carry out contractor inductions prior to them gaining access to site.
18. Provide emergency access to school site.
19. Assist BAM technicians when required.
Who are we looking for?
1. Caretaking or trade experience in a similar environment.
2. Demonstrate a flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
3. Good numeracy/literacy/GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
4. Willingness to develop knowledge of use of ICT and other specialist equipment/resources.
5. Working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice/legislation.
6. Ability to work without direct supervision.
7. Ability to relate well to children and adults.
8. Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions.
9. Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
10. Willingness to participate in development and training opportunities.
11. Show the ability to assist other team members in the discharge of their duties.
