As a Benefits Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting our community by delivering exceptional customer service, processing discretionary payments, and maintaining accurate records. Your empathetic approach will help guide residents through challenging times, providing clear and accessible information about their benefits.
In this role, you will be responsible for administering Housing Benefit and Council Tax Assistance, ensuring residents receive a fast, efficient, and cost-effective service. Our focus is on empowering individuals to maximise their income, access work opportunities, and maintain financial independence.
Working closely with partners, you will help provide tailored support that meets customers' needs while maintaining a high standard of service. Your duties will include assessing new claims, reviewing changes in circumstances, responding to inquiries, and offering expert advice on welfare benefits. Where necessary, you will also visit residents at home to ensure they receive the assistance they need.
About You
We are looking for someone with the ability to deal with people from all walks of life and respond to demanding situations. You will be a confident professional and be able to meet our customers in their homes or face to face at our offices. With a collaborative approach, an investigative mind and excellent attention to detail, you will be self-motivated and able to work effectively in a pressurised customer service environment.
