An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Children's Learning Disability Nurse to join a highly experienced health care teams working in the Learning Disabilities Directorate within the Specialist Services Division of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust in Bury.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be based in Bury at 3 Knowsley Place. The team specialist support and interventions to children and young people up to the age of 18. We deliver high quality health assessments and interventions to children and young people with complex needs.
Main duties of the job Role Summary: Delivery of evidence based health and behavioural assessments and interventions to children and young people with learning disabilities who have complex and challenging needs. You will be working within a supportive team with the expectation to be person centered, creative and innovative in meeting the health needs of individuals whilst offering support to families and carers. There will be the opportunity to work across a range of settings and with a range of other services. The Care Hub has a supervision framework in place and there are regular opportunities for continuing professional development and clinical supervision with other Community Nurses working in the Pennine Care Learning Disability Care Hub. We are eager to support continual professional development and access to additional training opportunities. All newly qualified nurses will be enrolled on a Preceptorship Programme.

* Registered Nurse in Learning Disabilities (RNLD)
* Good standard of general education
Desirable criteria
* Mentorship qualification
* Training around/knowledge of Positive behavioural approaches
Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience of working with children and young people and/or adults with a learning disability.
Desirable criteria
* Experience of delivering positive behavioural support
* Previous experience of working within a community team for learning disabilities.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Person centred approaches
* Commitment to multidisciplinary working
* Knowledge of using LD specialist assessment tools
* Knowledge of behavioural techniques /management
* Ability to deal with complex sensitive and distressing situations which may include challenging behaviour, abuse and breaking bad news
* Knowledge and skills across a range of learning disability issues
* Knowledge of child protection and adult safeguarding.
