The Role
Some students carry more than just schoolbooks when they walk into class.
At this specialist secondary SEMH setting in Newcastle, pupils aged 11–16 face emotional and behavioural challenges that make learning—and life—a bit tougher. They’re looking for someone steady, kind, and resilient to join their team this September. Someone who gets it.
You’ll be the calm in their day, building trusted relationships and creating safe, structured spaces where they feel seen, heard, and valued. It’s a role full of small wins—and they all matter.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Supporting young people with SEMH, trauma, and behaviour needs
* Delivering personalised interventions to support emotional regulation and wellbeing
* Encouraging positive behaviour and celebrating every bit of progress
* Working hand-in-hand with teachers, SENCOs and therapists to keep things consistent
* Being a constant, caring presence in a world that doesn’t always feel safe
About You
You don’t need to be a therapist—but you do need heart, patience, and a good dose of resilience.
Maybe you’ve worked in education, youth work, mental health or care. You’re confident using de-escalation techniques and understand that trust takes time. You know how to stay calm when others can’t.
What You’ll Get
* Weekly PAYE pay – no umbrella deductions, no hidden fees
* Free online CPD including safeguarding and de-escalation strategies
* Dedicated SEMH consultant who knows the Newcastle schools inside-out
* Long-term options and routes into permanent roles if the fit’s right
Why It Matters
This is more than just a job—it’s a chance to be someone’s safe space.
To be the adult who listens. Who stays. Who helps turn chaos into confidence. One conversation, one day, one student at a time.
