To provide effective teaching, learning, and assessment at a College for 14-19 year olds, ensuring a safe and secure environment for ESOL students with complex needs and behaviours. The role involves leading behaviour management and student support for vulnerable students, driving performance in engagement, curriculum, teaching quality, safety, achievement, and progression. Working with the Lead teacher, the aim is to ensure the College is judged as consistently good or outstanding by OFSTED.
Note: This role requires access to a car and a full driving licence.
Teaching and Learning Responsibilities
1. Teach ESOL students from pre-entry to Level 2.
2. Teach Functional Skills Entry level Maths.
3. Create an inspirational learning environment with high expectations for achievement and progression, respecting individual cultural and background differences.
4. Engage with parents to keep them informed and involved in learners' progress.
5. Build effective, trusting relationships within the education process.
6. Plan lessons that enable learners to achieve and progress.
7. Model inclusive learning and celebrate diversity.
8. Ensure at least good outcomes for all pupils.
9. Oversee and coordinate your subject area development.
10. Develop schemes of work to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation standards, following guidance from relevant bodies.
11. Prepare and deliver lessons tailored to individual and group needs, using up-to-date subject knowledge and a variety of teaching strategies.
12. Develop learning resources and pathways that meet learner and regulatory requirements.
13. Implement systems to monitor and evaluate learning effectiveness.
14. Set clear teaching objectives, learning outcomes, and Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
15. Support learners in reflecting on their progress and setting targets.
16. Maintain records of student progress and provide necessary management information.
17. Ensure good order and discipline, safeguarding student wellbeing, and managing behaviour within the classroom and across the College.
18. Work collaboratively to provide pastoral support.
19. Utilise support staff effectively within the classroom.
20. Complete administrative tasks related to teaching, such as exam entries, registration, and invigilation.
Qualifications
* A recognised teaching qualification is essential.
* A degree in a related subject and Level 5 Teaching Qualification are desirable.
