Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and supportive Communications Support Worker to join our supportive and collaborative team. As a Communications Support Worker you will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication on a 1:1 basis for a hearing impaired child in our school.
Responsibilities
* Providing support during classes and various school activities, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum
* Assisting in the delivery of educational materials through sign language interpretation or other appropriate communication methods
* Collaborating with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
* Encouraging the development communication skills and independence
* Building rapport and trust, fostering a nurturing and respectful relationship
Contract and Context
This is not necessarily your experience that we’re most interested in, it’s your passion and commitment to our mission, ensuring every child, whatever their background, receives a high quality education. You will be extremely well supported, working alongside a passionate team of teachers. This post is fixed-term/temporary due to supporting a named child with an Education, Health, and Care Plan. The contract will terminate on a specified date or sooner should the pupil no longer need the same level of support or if funding is withdrawn.
Qualifications
* Qualified in British Sign Language (BSL) or Signature registered BSL Level 1 or above
* A great communicator who develops positive relationships with young children
* Patient, empathetic, and has a genuine passion for helping children overcome communication barriers
* Understanding of the educational, welfare and social needs of the children whom we are supporting
* Enthusiastic and committed to working as part of a team
* Consistent in a calm and fair approach
* Committed to raise the achievement of all students of all abilities
* Passionate and dedicated in helping children reach their academic potential
