GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated and confident Cover Supervisor to work across a range of schools in the Southampton area. This full-time role begins immediately or from September 2025. Flexible working – choose the days that suit your schedule and can work up to 5 days per week. In this role, you will manage classrooms during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged and learning effectively in a supportive environment. This position is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals looking to gain practical school experience. Responsibilities: Supervise and manage a classroom in the absence of the regular teacher. Deliver pre-set lessons and ensure students stay on task. Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies. Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress and behaviour. Support pupils as necessary to help them access learning during cover lessons. Adapt to various school settings and year groups as required. Requirements: Previous experience working with young people or in a school setting is desirable. Strong classroom presence and the ability to manage groups of students effectively. Adaptable, reliable, and calm under pressure. Passion for education and supporting student progress. A degree or relevant qualification is advantageous. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
