Senior Java Developer
Chester - 2 days per week.
ÂŁ70,000 - ÂŁ90,000 + annual bonus and 30 days holiday + bh.
I’m hiring a Java Developer for one of my biggest clients in financial services. A bank but a tech‑led organisation with a mission to build secure, scalable digital products that genuinely improve people’s lives. As they continue to invest in their engineering capability, they’re looking for talented Java Developers who thrive in collaborative environments, enjoy problem‑solving, and want to make a meaningful impact through their work.

What You’ll Be Doing
* Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services
* Build and deploy containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes
* Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles
* Work closely with Product Owners, Architects and Quality Engineers
* Integrate with internal systems and third‑party APIs
* Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape engineering strategy
* Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of L&D
What You’ll Need
Backend Development
* Hands‑on experience with Java and building scalable RESTful APIs
* Experience with Spring Boot; exposure to Node.js is a plus
DevOps & Cloud
* Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Harness
* Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes
* Experience with cloud platforms – GCP preferred, but AWS or Azure also welcome
Quality, Testing & Automation
* Experience with automated testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, or Pact
* Commitment to writing maintainable, well‑tested, production‑ready code
