Research and Development Technician – Advanced Power Systems Division (APSD)

About the Role:
An industry-leading global engine and power systems manufacturer is seeking an Agency Technician to join their Advanced Power Systems Division (APSD) based in Peterborough. This role supports cutting-edge research and product development across electrification, hybrid, diesel, and powertrain systems, contributing to the next generation of sustainable technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support engineering teams with product builds, strip/measure activities, and system testing.
* Conduct electrical and mechanical diagnostics, analysis, and sign-off on prototype systems.
* Perform electrical safety checks and testing using software and diagnostic tools.
* Collaborate closely with internal engineering leads, suppliers, and customers to meet project targets.
* Assist with data analysis and continuous improvement of testing and facility processes.
* Maintain high standards of health, safety, and quality at all times.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Qualified in mechanical/electrical engineering – apprenticeship, ONC/HNC, degree, or equivalent experience.
* Strong hands-on background in engine, transmission, or power system testing.
* Proficient in diagnostic and calibration tools (e.g., CANape, service tools).
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a team-oriented approach.
Desirable:
* Experience with high-voltage, hybrid, or electric vehicle systems.
* Knowledge of powertrain, hydraulics, wiring, and fabrication.
* Familiarity with new product introduction (NPI) processes.
