We are currently seeking a committed and supportive person to continue to drive and develop support for our children in Southampton City Council. As Team Manager for the Young People’s Service, you will lead a dedicated team of Social Workers and Young Person’s Practitioners. Our Young People's Service is all about trying to reduce the impact of child criminal and sexual exploitation and enabling families to live together where there is a real risk of breakdown. The city’s young people need someone special to lead one of our teams. This person needs to be quick to find solutions to complex challenges - this could be young people encountering coercion or violence, struggling to access education or training, or recovering from traumatic experiences. We need someone who is calm, containing, solution focused, quick thinking and positive. We are looking for someone who can give young people and their families hope and aspiration. The Service : The Young People’s Service is made up of two Social Work Teams and our dedicated Prevention Service. We run a number of creative initiatives to support our children and young people; We are based within The ‘Hub’ at the Civic Centre, a child centred open space for staff to spend time with young people, with pool table, air hockey, chill out areas, skills rooms, gym equipment and much more. Our very own, child led café ‘Opportunity Brews’ Weekly Youth club We are a HAF provider, running bespoke school holiday activities for our most hard to reach children An education worker in post to support children to access schooling and post 16 education and training Strong Partnerships with local charities who deliver high quality interventions Drops ins from local Drug and Alcohol Support workers and Sexual Health Nurses The Role The Team Manager appointed will spend their time supporting Social workers and Young People’s Practitioners to plan for children on Child Protection and Child in Need plans. We are proud to be working alongside Durham University to deliver the Risk outside the Home Framework to help children and young people reduce risks to them from contextual safeguarding concerns. This exciting opportunity for a full time Team manager will allow any experienced manager or an aspiring manager to utilise their social worker skills and core values whilst they support staff to support young people in their plans for the future.
