Nestled in the heart of Somerset, this prestigious independent school - Downside School caters for 400 boarders and staff and includes not only a breakfast, lunch and supper service but also an extensive hospitality service. This operates 7 days a week.

Job Description
As a Apprentice Chef you will collaborate with our culinary team to learn and craft flavourful dishes that nourish both body and mind
As well as having an excellent presentation, organisational and communication skills, you will be able to demonstrate a real passion for food & service and possess bags of enthusiasm. You will be working towards;
* Assist with various tasks in the kitchen assigned by the head and sous chef, training in all areas of the kitchen, including pastry, salad section and hot meal preparation, we prepare classic dishes from all over the world and your training will give you the skills in preparing these for up to 600pupils and staff.
* Assisting the head and sous chef in the delivery of exceptional standards of function catering, for hospitality and events throughout the year.
* Learn and develop your skills in line with on job training for level 2 and 3 NVQ apprenticeships. All on job training will be provided, additionally your apprenticeship qualification training will be provided by HITT Training to the approved NVQ standards.
* You should be confident to communicate effectively with team members and clients.
* Provide excellent customer service, including service to all on site pupils and staff.
* Stay updated on industry trends, culinary techniques, and new ingredients to continuously enhance the menu offerings and overall dining experience.
* Foster a positive working environment by demonstrating leadership qualities, effective communication, and teamwork.
