The Marketing Business Partner for Central Functions is responsible for aligning marketing and internal communications strategy with the Group’s commercial and cultural objectives, partnering with senior stakeholders to translate business priorities into integrated marketing and engagement plans. The role leads the delivery of targeted, multi-channel campaigns that support growth and brand positioning, while also overseeing internal communications to drive colleague engagement, clarity of message, and alignment with Group strategy. Managing the Communications Executive, the postholder ensures consistent, high quality communications and the successful delivery of company events that strengthen culture and employee engagement. With a strong focus on performance, governance, and brand integrity, the role ensures all activity meets regulatory requirements, including FCA standards and Consumer Duty, while using insight-led approaches to maximise impact and value.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Stakeholder Alignment: Act as a trusted marketing and communications advisor to Central Functions and senior leadership teams, translating corporate strategy and growth ambitions into integrated Group-wide marketing and communications plans. Facilitate structured planning and alignment sessions to ensure activity supports evolving commercial and cultural priorities across all business units.
Multi-Channel Campaign Delivery: Lead the end-to-end planning, execution, and optimisation of integrated Group-level campaigns across digital channels, email, LinkedIn, PR, and industry platforms. Ensure campaigns are strategically aligned, brand-consistent, and designed to enhance reputation, support growth, and strengthen stakeholder engagement.
Proposition & Messaging Development: Partner with Central Functions People Leaders to articulate clear, compelling, and commercially focused value propositions. Translate technical capabilities into consistent, audience-appropriate messaging that strengthens the Group’s market positioning.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance: Work collaboratively with Compliance to ensure all Group marketing and communications materials adhere to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requirements, including Consumer Duty and fair value principles. Embed robust governance, approval, and risk management processes across all communications activity.
Performance & Insight Leadership: Utilise CRM systems, marketing automation tools, and analytics platforms to measure effectiveness and return on investment of Group campaigns. Provide clear, insight-led reporting to senior stakeholders, identifying optimisation opportunities and informing strategic decision-making.
Performance Management Framework: Establish clear objectives and success metrics for all Group marketing and communications initiatives, ensuring activity is directly aligned to agreed business and engagement outcomes, with continuous monitoring and optimisation.
Content & Brand Stewardship: Oversee the development of high-quality, technically accurate, and on-brand content—including thought leadership, internal communications, webinars, and corporate materials—that reinforces the Group’s expertise, reputation, and cultural narrative.
Agency & Partner Management: Manage relationships with creative, PR, digital, and specialist agencies ensuring delivery of high-quality outputs, strong commercial value, and alignment to strategic priorities.
Group Budget Management: Contribute to overseeing the marketing and communications planning and budgeting process, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support strategic growth, brand development, and employee engagement initiatives.
Market Insight & Strategic Intelligence: Provide commercial insight and market intelligence to inform product development, competitive positioning, corporate messaging, and go-to-market strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Champion collaboration across marketing, sales, underwriting, operations, and central functions to ensure a seamless and consistent external brand presence and internal communication experience across the Group.
Group Event Strategy & Corporate Engagement: Develop and lead the Group-wide events strategy, including central corporate events, awards, company-wide events, town halls, and key industry engagements. Ensure all events are strategically aligned to brand, commercial, and cultural objectives, enhancing reputation, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and driving measurable engagement outcomes.
People & Employee Engagement Partnership: Work closely with the People Team to develop and deliver internal communications, employee engagement initiatives, and cultural programmes that support organisational change, reinforce values, and enhance colleague experience across the Group.
Team Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the Internal Communications Executive setting clear objectives, managing performance, and fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture that delivers strategically aligned marketing, communications, and engagement activity.
Skills & Knowledge required
* Strong strategic thinking capability, with the ability to translate group strategy into integrated marketing, communications, and engagement plans.
* Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with credibility operating at Executive and senior leadership level.
* Deep understanding of brand management, corporate communications, and reputation management within a regulated financial services environment.
* Strong knowledge of Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requirements, including Consumer Duty and fair value principles, and the ability to embed compliant marketing governance frameworks.
* Advanced understanding of multi-channel marketing, including digital, PR, thought leadership, internal communications, and event strategy.
* Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to align marketing and engagement activity to measurable business and cultural outcomes.
* Data-driven mindset, with the ability to interpret analytics, CRM insight, and performance metrics to inform decision-making and optimisation.
* Strong understanding of employee engagement principles and internal communications best practice.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to shape compelling messaging for both internal and external audiences.
* Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to prioritise across multiple Group-wide initiatives.
* Knowledge of specialist insurance or multi-brand financial services environments.
* Understanding of corporate affairs, ESG communications, and reputation risk management.
* Familiarity with marketing automation platforms, digital performance tools, and event technology platforms.
* Awareness of change management and organisational transformation communications.
Experience & Qualifications
* Significant experience in a senior marketing and/or communications role within financial services or another regulated environment.
* Proven experience operating at Group or corporate level, supporting Executive stakeholders and aligning activity to corporate strategy.
* Demonstrable experience leading integrated marketing and communications campaigns with measurable commercial impact.
* Experience developing and delivering corporate events, town halls, awards, and large-scale company engagement initiatives.
* Experience partnering with People/HR teams to deliver internal communications and employee engagement programmes.
* Experience managing budgets and optimising spend to deliver strong return on investment.
* Experience leading and developing team members, setting objectives, and managing performance.
* Experience embedding governance and compliance processes within marketing and communications activity.
* Experience within an MGA, insurance Group, or complex multi-entity financial services organisation.
* Professional marketing qualification (e.g. CIM or equivalent).
* Experience leading brand integration or cultural engagement initiatives during periods of organisational change.
