Key Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our licensed pharmacists and ensuring our patients receive the best care possible. Your responsibilities will include:
* Prescription Preparation and Fulfillment:
o Assist pharmacists in accurately preparing and dispensing medications.
o Measure, count, and package prescriptions according to healthcare provider instructions.
o Label medication containers with essential dosage, usage, and safety information.
* Clerical and Data Entry Duties:
o Input patient and prescription details into our digital system with precision.
o Maintain up-to-date patient records while ensuring confidentiality.
* Stock and Inventory Oversight:
o Collaborate with procurement teams to manage medication and supply inventory.
o Conduct regular stock checks and remove outdated or recalled items.
o Assist in the safe disposal of unusable medications.
* Customer Interaction and Support:
o Welcome customers and handle inquiries with professionalism.
o Facilitate prescription drop-off and pick-up processes.
o Provide basic information about medication availability.
* Operational Quality and Maintenance:
o Help maintain pharmacy equipment and ensure proper functioning.
o Participate in routine checks to uphold quality standards.
o Contribute to a clean and organized pharmacy environment.
* Regulatory Compliance and Safety Practices:
o Follow all applicable laws and guidelines related to pharmacy operations.
o Adhere to safety procedures for handling medications.
o Promote a safe working environment through infection control practices.
Requirements and Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should possess the following:
* Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an Ohio Board of Pharmacy approved pharmacy technician training program.
* Licensure: Registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Technician or Certified Technician.
* Certification: PTCB certification preferred.
* Experience: Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or in a related healthcare role is beneficial.
* Core Competencies:
o Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
o Familiarity with pharmacy terminology and sig codes.
o Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients and colleagues.
o Basic math skills for standard pharmacy calculations.
o Experience with pharmacy computer systems and electronic health records (EHR).
Physical Requirements
In this role, you should be able to:
* Stand for extended periods.
* Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
* Read and interpret hand-written and faxed materials.
* Demonstrate manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Pay and Benefits
