Overall Purpose of The Job
Join our Legal Team at Kensington Mortgages, where no two days are the same. We are looking for an In-House Solicitor to provide high-quality legal advice across the business on matters including mortgage originations, servicing, FCA regulation, litigation, AML legislation, fraud, data protection, property, contracts, and more.
The department has a varied workload, offering opportunities for candidates with diverse experience to contribute and develop their skills, collaborating with our legal team at Barclays.
Key Accountabilities
* Delivering timely, practical legal advice to the business
* Managing a range of caseloads including disputes and litigation with external solicitors
* Drafting and negotiating contracts, legal documentation, and business policies
* Providing legal guidance on mortgage applications, policies, procedures, and risk management
* Supporting compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, advising on legislative changes
* Building strong relationships with stakeholders
* Protecting the company and lenders in disputes and contractual relationships
* Contributing legal advice to projects within Kensington and Barclays
* Acting with integrity and promoting fair customer outcomes
Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualified solicitor admitted to practice in England and Wales
* 1-4 years post-qualification experience
* Experience in financial services, mortgage lending, or litigation (acting for lenders is a plus)
* Knowledge of residential conveyancing and land registration is advantageous
* Strong communication, analytical, and legal skills
* Team player with a positive attitude and collaborative approach
