Summary
We are seeking an Environmental Consultant to join our dedicated team at Green Spark in the UK. This role is pivotal in delivering sustainable solutions that align with our mission of responsible environmental management. The ideal candidate will contribute significantly to our projects, ensuring compliance and risk management for our clients. To provide advice and support on environmental matters and ensure projects comply with environmental regulations and targets by addressing environmental impact.
To deliver high-quality environmental field services, technical analysis, and compliance support for clients. This role combines site-based environmental investigation with technical desktop reporting, external client and regulatory engagement and internal company environmental guidance.
Full training will be provided, but we expect candidates to have a basic understanding of environmental practices, compliance, incident response and the ability to understand and apply environmental legislation to customer and company requirements.
You will be part of the environmental services team conducting tasks primarily relating to pollution risk services, waste and waste-water management.
Core services to be delivered include:
* Pollution incident response management
* Waste management compliance support
* Environmental permitting and consenting applications and guidance
* Environmental training
* Environmental auditing
* Water and soil sampling
* Environmental consultancy
* Drainage related environmental compliance
Responsibilities
* Plan and execute site visits in line with agreed scopes,ensuring customers are contacted prior to a site visit, in a timely manner, confirming the schedule and providing information on how to prepare.
* Ensure all field activities are conducted safely, with appropriate risk assessments, and PPE. Lead and promote adherence to all company and legislative standards including health and safety, quality and environmental.
* Maintain accurate and complete field records through CRM systems where applicable, chain of custody forms, and photographic evidence.
* Undertaking external audits at customer sites to meet determined objectives including environmental compliance, ISO 14001 compliance, waste, pollution risk wastewater management and other environmental objectives
* Review on-site customer activities for pollution risk and mitigating controls as well as other environmental aspects. Working with clients to improve environmental standards
* Conduct site visits, surveys and client meetings providing environmental guidance on legislative requirements, best practice and consultancy support.
* Conducting water and soil sampling, logging samples and analysing laboratory results providing a technical summary of the results, identifying compliance risks and trends and recommended actions to customers and internal colleagues.
* Support with pollution incident and spillage response clean-ups, providing on-site and desktop guidance to colleagues, contractors and clients.
* Timely attendance to environmental emergencies where required
* Conduct spillage response and other environmental and compliance training on customers sites
* Aid field operatives on-site to support environmental projects such as assisting in drainage mapping and compliance related design specifications.
Essential Skills
* Educated to degree or diploma level in an environmental discipline or equivalent years in technical industry
* Minimum 1 year experience in a professional business environment, demonstrating strong communication skills, stakeholder engagement, and adherence to business etiquette.
* Minimum 1 year environmental technical experience (In an area relating to either pollution, waste, water/waste-water management, drainage, construction, permitting, environmental reporting or environmental consultancy).
* Full UK driving licence and ability to reliably travel between local company depots. Pool vehicles provided for site visits.
* Understanding of environmental legislation and current environmental issues
* Proven ability to work independently, managing own workload with multiple projects and deadlines.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
* A high level of organisation and professionalism with high personal quality standards
* Self-motivated and self-directed. Ability to handle responsibility and manage own workload to deliver to target
* Adaptable and resilient under changing priorities and conditions.
* An ability to form positive working relationships both with customers and colleagues. A team player with a flexible approach to company and client requirements.
