 
        
        Position Summary
Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a Research Communication Assistant on a part‑time, fixed‑term contract for the Autumn term.
Key Responsibilities
 * Support a transdisciplinary research project based at a community‑led heritage site.
 * Assist in developing and communicating research output to academic and community audiences.
 * Lead the technical development of an accessible community engagement blog, implementing accessibility best practices and optimizing the site for assistive technologies.
 * Assist with delivery of a small study exploring community wellbeing through a multimodal journaling activity: support data analysis, literature review, and communications of findings.
 * Work closely with the project leader and attend fortnightly in‑person meetings in Bloomsbury, Euston, London.
Qualifications and Experience
 * Prior experience developing and maintaining WordPress.org websites.
 * Strong foundation in qualitative social research skills (e.g., sociology, psychosocial studies, anthropology) or a relevant humanities subject (e.g., human geography, history, archaeology) at postgraduate research level.
 * Excellent editorial and proof‑reading skills.
 * Experience as a Research Assistant, Web Editor, or Content Designer is desirable.
Contract & Working Conditions
Fixed‑term, part‑time role working 92 hours in total until 15 April 2026. Remote with flexible schedule; fortnightly face‑to‑face meetings (Tues – Fri PM) in Bloomsbury, Euston, London.
Salary and Benefits
£21.43 per hour (pro‑rated £38,981 per year, FTE). Grade 6 on the College's London Pay Scale, including a consolidated London Weighting Allowance. Competitive salary and pension scheme, 31 days paid leave, flexible working arrangements, and generous benefits in the higher education sector.
