Job Description
Financial ControllerWorking closely with the COO, this is a progressive role within a small but well-established business with opportunity to streamline processes and drive efficiency.Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all day-to-day finance operations, including bookkeeping, payroll, and transactional processing (AP/AR).
* Manage and develop a finance team of 2.
* Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and performance commentary.
* Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with business strategy and market trends.
* Maintain cash flow forecasts and working capital analysis to maintain strong financial health.
* Support decision-making with financial insight, profitability analysis, and business case evaluation.
* Work closely with departmental managers to track spend against budget and provide cost control recommendations.
* Ensure all statutory and tax obligations (VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax) are met in a timely and compliant manner.
* Liaise with external accountants and auditors for year-end accounts and regulatory compliance.
* Streamline and improve financial systems, controls, and processes to support scalability and efficiency.
Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will:
* Be a fully qualified accountant or QBE within an SME environment.
* Be comfortable in a broad role with both strategic and operational responsibilities.
* Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working cross-functionally.
* Demonstrate a strong understanding of financial control environments.
* Have substantial experience with VAT, ideally including partial exemption schemes.
* Be accountable for delivering month-end and year-end processes, including audit and statutory accounts and Board presentation.
