The ideal candidate will combine hands-on technical expertise with commercial awareness, supporting customers directly while contributing to business development. ROLE OVERVIEW As an Application Engineer (Technical Sales), you will act as both a technical advisor and a sales enabler, bridging the gap between customer needs and engineering solutions. You will support the sales process by providing expert guidance, recommending effective solutions, and ensuring a seamless experience from enquiry through to delivery. This is a customer-facing position that requires a blend of technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and commercial acumen. You will be expected to strengthen relationships with key accounts, identify growth opportunities, and play an active role in winning new business. The position may involve occasional travel to customer sites, partner locations, and industry exhibitions within the UK and abroad. You will also be expected to operate in line with company values, mission, and professional standards at all times. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a trusted technical partner. * • Support the sales team by identifying opportunities and recommending tailored engineering solutions. * • Provide technical expertise throughout the sales cycle, from pre-sales discussions to after-sales support. * • Deliver presentations, demonstrations, and system tests to customers both onsite and at company facilities. * • Collaborate with internal engineering teams to produce drawings, technical documentation, and project support. * • Prepare accurate quotations aligned with customer specifications and best practices. * • Ensure compliance with relevant codes of practice, quality standards, and specifications. * • Represent the company at exhibitions and industry events, supporting technical sales activities. * • Deliver training sessions to colleagues, customers, and new starters to strengthen product knowledge. * • Manage CRM records (Salesforce desirable) and ensure customer interactions are accurately documented. * • Respond promptly to customer queries regarding technical support, pricing, and logistics. * • Resolve customer issues effectively, ensuring a professional and solutions-focused outcome. KEY SKILLS & BEHAVIOURS * • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related discipline required). * • Strong technical knowledge, ideally within material handling, pneumatics, automation, or vacuum technology. * • Sales and customer-facing experience, with proven ability to build lasting relationships. * • Commercial awareness and motivation to contribute to business growth. * • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. * • Strong problem-solving ability and analytical thinking. * • Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and best practices. * • 3 years’ experience in an Application Engineer, Technical Sales, or comparable role. * • Confident working in a fast-paced environment with diverse demands. * • CRM knowledge (Salesforce desirable). * • A driven, collaborative, and solution-oriented mindset
