Job description
We are looking for an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to join our team, specialising in Passive Fire Protection. The core purpose of this role is to manage and respond to incoming project enquiries, attending site visits to assess the scope of work, and ultimately increasing the company’s project conversion rate. This is a client-facing role that focuses on identifying and securing new opportunities, pricing projects effectively, and building strong, long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct site visits and client meetings to assess project requirements and ensure a clear understanding of the scope of works.
* Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, particularly within healthcare, student accommodation, public sector, housing associations, and similar sectors.
* Grow and manage a portfolio of high-value clients, ensuring excellent service delivery and repeat business.
* Drive revenue growth by securing new business and expanding existing accounts, with a particular focus on fire door and fire stopping works.
* Identify sales opportunities early in the process to maximise client engagement and contract value.
* Deliver persuasive sales presentations, lead negotiations, and close deals in collaboration with wider business development teams.
* Manage incoming enquiries and ensure all leads are followed up efficiently and professionally.
* Own the full sales process — from initial contact and qualification through to proposal, solution presentation, and deal closure.
* Participate actively in pipeline reviews and ensure the CRM system is kept fully up to date with opportunities, activities, and key client information.
Experience & Skills Required:
* Proven experience in a sales or estimating role within the passive fire protection or wider construction industry.
* Strong technical understanding of fire doors, fire stopping, and compartmentation works.
* In-depth knowledge of passive fire protection systems, applications, and market trends.
* ASFP and/or IFE Level 1, 2 or 3 qualifications (desirable).
* Ability to quickly grasp technical details and present solutions in a clear, client-focused way.
* Solution-oriented approach with a focus on building value for clients.
* Confident communicator with strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
* Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
