The role
As a Lead FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis) Analyst at Shoosmiths, you will be responsible for contributing to the financial strategy and performance of the firm. This role involves leading the FP&A analyst function, providing financial insights, and supporting key business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Financial Planning: Develop and maintain the firm's financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modelling.
* Analysis and Reporting: Deliver detailed financial analysis and reports to senior management, focusing on key trends, risks, and opportunities at a macro-level.
* Strategic Support: Collaborate with business leaders as needed to assist with strategic initiatives, providing financial insights and suggestions to enhance growth and profitability.
* Performance Monitoring: Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
* Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of FP&A analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development.
* Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the FP&A function.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders within Finance and across the firm to ensure alignment and support for financial plans and initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or CFA is preferred.
* Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or a related role, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
* Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in financial modelling, analysis, and reporting tools. Advanced Excel skills are essential, and experience with financial planning software such as SAP, IBM Planning Analytics (TM1), Planful or similar is desirable.
* Leadership: Proven experience in leading and developing a team of financial professionals.
* Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
* Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
* Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
