Location: Remote / Flexible (within the UK)
Contract: Fixed term until August 2027 (rolling contract)
Commitment: 1–3 days per month (flexible)
Rate: £350–£450 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
We are looking for a registered health or social care professional to provide expert advice and strategic input to strengthen quality, safety, and professional practice across Mencap.
Working within the Quality Directorate and reporting to a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will use your professional expertise to help shape frameworks, policies, and governance systems that ensure our services remain safe, person‑centred, and evidence based.
This is a flexible consultancy role, ideal for an experienced Allied Health Professional or clinician who wants to contribute to national improvement and system‑wide learning.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice to strengthen organisational systems, frameworks, and governance processes.
* Support the development of policies, training, and quality assurance mechanisms reflecting best practice within your discipline.
* Contribute to the design of risk management and audit frameworks to improve safety and quality of care.
* Offer professional insight through high‑level reviews of systems and processes.
* Support the embedding of research, innovation, and evidence‑based practice.
* Promote a positive learning culture and support organisational learning from incidents and complaints.
About You
* Current professional registration (e.g. HCPC, NMC, GDC).
* Recognised degree or equivalent qualification in your discipline.
* At least 5 years’ post‑registration experience.
* Experience working with people with a learning disability.
* Strong knowledge of national policy, guidance, and best practice relevant to your profession.
* Analytical and data interpretation skills to support learning and improvement.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* A passion for improving quality of life and outcomes for people with a learning disability.
