Job Description Summary
The Software Engineer will lead technical development and delivery at the team and sometimes lab level. They may act as a Line Manager, co-leading with the Team PO for overall delivery, responsible for technical delivery, line management, and app ownership alongside their software engineering duties. Others will operate as individual contributors, specializing in particular technology areas with a narrower focus.

We seek a Software Engineer to deliver high-quality, customer-driven software while mentoring and supporting engineering teams. You will work in cross-disciplinary teams, delivering customer-focused solutions and high-quality software, demonstrating excellent communication skills, and working efficiently across the project lifecycle. This leadership role combines deep domain and technical expertise with a passion for coaching and developing people in a “player-coach” model.
Responsibilities
* Producing high-quality, well-tested, and robust code using Java.
* Supporting maintenance and improvement of existing software, and developing APIs and microservices.
* Identifying opportunities to automate and simplify processes to improve product quality.
* Participating in Agile practices and ceremonies.
* Supporting the transition to cloud technologies.
* Mentoring and developing team members to build a strong team.

What You’ll Need
* Experience as a Software Engineer, focusing on Java in recent years.
* Ability to use design patterns, experience, and best practices to design, test, and amend complex programs.
* Proficiency in Java coding.
* Experience developing Spring Boot microservices.
* Understanding of quality assurance principles and practices.
* Knowledge of end-to-end DevOps principles.
* Familiarity with the software development lifecycle in an Agile environment.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
