Purpose of the Role
As a Control Room Operator in Rail Services, you will be part of a medium‑sized team that plays an essential role in the 24/7 real‑time operation of our on‑track plant fleet, while gaining additional knowledge and experience of the technical and commercial activities that underpin our operations.
Where will I be based?
Our Control Room at Rugby Depot.

Key Responsibilities
* Monitor and control the safe, efficient and reliable operation of our on‑track plant fleet 24/7.
* Record, report and escalate any real‑time issues including incidents, accidents and environmental occurrences in a professional and efficient manner, informing the appropriate parties in the correct timescales in accordance with Company procedures.
* Communicate and coordinate with on‑site colleagues, escalating issues as necessary to on‑call managers and maintenance departments to support operational shift performance.
* Ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with policies, procedures and safety rules.
* Work closely with customers, stakeholders and service providers who support our activities.
* Produce and distribute accurate, brief, concise operational updates and communicate clear handovers.
* Attend all required training for the role and continue training throughout your employment.
Skills
* Experience and confidence in using computer systems to undertake processes, record and manage safety‑critical data.
* Dynamic, driven, and professional, able to perform duties safely on their own using processes and procedures without direct supervision.
* Inquisitive with the ability to interpret operational data and draw conclusions for action in a safety‑critical environment.
* Positive attitude and thrives in a busy, pressurised environment.
* Confident communicator both verbally and in writing, with excellent spelling and grammatical skills.
* Understanding of UK Rail Infrastructure and good geographical knowledge.
* Previous experience working within a Control environment or Emergency Control Centre (Desirable).
