Join Siemens for more than just a job –

It’s a rewarding journey with growth, benefits, and a diverse, encouraging environment. Your success and well-being matter to us.

Did you know we’re scrapping the CV? We believe skills can be developed, and potential can be nurtured. We’re not so interested in what you’ve done – we care most about who you are and what you can do. Your CV will still need to be attached but it will not be seen by a hiring manager until the selection process has been completed.

You will join a community of like-minded early career professionals where you will bond and grow with team-building activities and real problems to solve. You will be given responsibility for challenging opportunities which will help you succeed.

What can I expect?

As an Apprentice Fire & Security Systems Designer, you’ll help create plans for safety and security systems used in buildings - such as alarms and CCTV. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and project teams, learning how to design systems that are safe, compliant, and cost efficient. This is a great hands-on opportunity if you’re interested in how things work, enjoy solving problems, and want to learn more about engineering and technology.

You will be working in the Siemens Smart Infrastructure Buildings division – responsible for the design, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of advanced electronic systems.

This will be a 3-year Apprenticeship where you will complete the Level 3 Fire, Emergency and Security Systems (FESS) Technician Apprenticeship Standard. Your learning will be supported throughout your programme by Siemens mentors and by one of our training partners who will be the apprenticeship provider.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Assisting in designing fire detection and alarm systems, public address and voice alarm (PA/VA) systems, aspirating smoke detection systems, disabled refuge systems, access control systems, CCTV surveillance systems, and intruder alarm systems.
* Helping to prepare and maintain accurate lists of materials and equipment needed for pricing and ordering (known as a Bill of Materials or BOM).
* Supporting the creation of design documents, including drawings, diagrams, and layout plans.
* Learning how to understand and apply key safety and electrical standards.
* Taking part in design reviews and meetings with fellow team members and stakeholders.
* Assisting in putting together Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals that explain how systems work and how to look after them.
* Following company procedures and any specific documentation requirements from clients.
* Helping to manage technical questions and requests for more information from the team or clients.

What do I need to apply?

We’re excited to hear from you if you:

* Are genuinely interested in engineering, safety, and technology—and eager to learn more every day.
* Have a positive attitude and are ready to take initiative and get stuck in.
* Pay close attention to detail and enjoy solving problems.
* Communicate clearly and enjoy working as part of a team.
* Have some basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems (this is a bonus, not a must!).

Minimum educational requirements:

You will have achieved or be on track to achieve at least 5 GCSE's grade 4 or above including Maths and English Language.

What is in it for me?

Through working at Siemens, you will have access to a wide range of benefits.

Siemens offers 26 days of paid holiday, and we embrace our corporate responsibility, offering 5 paid volunteering days that allow you to make a meaningful impact on society. We also offer discounts on everyday spending as well as subsidised gym memberships and more.

To celebrate completing your early careers programme, you will also be invited to our Early Careers Gala!

Our commitment to diversity

We believe belonging transforms... At Siemens, diversity isn't just a word – it's our driving force for innovation. We take pride in our inclusive work environment, and we ensure everyone is seen. Having a broader and deeper range of perspectives at Siemens supports our ability to remain innovative. It enables us to continue creating world-class solutions, products, and services that transform the everyday.

We always want to ensure we accommodate everyone at Siemens; if your application makes it to the assessment stage of our process, please reach out to the recruiter who has been in contact with you and let us know of any requirements you have.

The future is exciting at Siemens, and we’d love you to be a part of it.
