SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD Focus)
Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a strong background supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? This is a rewarding opportunity to join a caring and inclusive primary school in Havering, where specialist support and staff expertise make a real difference to pupils’ daily learning and development.
The school is seeking a dedicated SEN TA to work 1:1 and in small groups with children across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. Many pupils have ASD, and some may be non-verbal, so confidence, patience, and proven SEN experience are essential. You will play a key role in helping pupils access the curriculum, develop communication skills, and feel safe and supported within the school environment.
This role would suit someone who already has hands-on SEN experience and is looking to continue developing within a supportive setting. While the school offers ongoing CPD opportunities, they are keen to appoint someone who can hit the ground running and bring practical, classroom-based SEN knowledge from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD
• Support non-verbal learners using appropriate strategies and interventions
• Help pupils access the curriculum and engage in learning
• Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to follow individual support plans
The Ideal Candidate:
• Has Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (preferred)
• Has proven experience working with SEN, particularly ASD (essential)
• Is calm, patient, and highly adaptable
• Understands inclusive practice in a primary school setting
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a role that is challenging, meaningful, and highly rewarding, supporting pupils who truly benefit from specialist care and consistency.
